Oakville Window Trim: Aluminum Capping & Vinyl Siding

This Oakville project replaced the exposed finish around a window box with custom aluminum capping and vinyl siding. The photos show the peeling wood trim, a design rendering, the work in progress and the finished exterior. The aim was to cover the exposed wood and reduce the repainting it needed.

Peeling paint around the window box

The old wood trim had peeling paint and exposed areas. Before capping wood, its condition needs to be checked. Loose paint, damaged wood and moisture problems should be addressed before the metal finish goes on; capping does not repair rot underneath.

2. Design Preview (Rendering)

The rendering shows how the aluminum trim and siding could look around the window box. It is a design preview, not a photograph of completed work.

4. During the Work

The work combined board-and-batten vinyl siding with aluminum trim around the window box. The homeowner’s review below describes a sheathing barrier beneath the siding and additional wood trim beneath the aluminum at the top and bottom.

These details matter as much as the visible finish: the trim, siding edges and water-shedding details need to work together around the opening.

5. Finished window box

The finished photos show the aluminum border and board-and-batten siding against the brick. The new finish reduces exposed wood that needs painting. It still needs occasional cleaning and checks at joints, edges and sealant.
